What the hell? Oklahoma wants bibles in every classroom. Louisiana wants the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Just two examples of what republicans want to do to our democracy. Forget about one of the basic tenets of our constitution – religious freedom – a chief reason the country was founded. Call it what you want, but the real goal of these dirtbags is to do what Orange Voldemort has been jonesing for since he rolled his fat ass into the consciousness of Americans. It isn’t make America great again. It’s just an example of their goal to put white people back in charge again, and put minorities in their place again; to treat brown people – Indigenous Americans, Muslim Americans, Latin Americans, Black Americans – as Blacks were treated during the times prior to the Civil War. Fear is the motivation. They want to give power back to white men, who are freaking out because they are becoming a minority. The US got rich from free labor, gained off of the backs of the Black people they stole from their homelands, and the loss of that slavery was a huge blow to old, white men who thought that they could control everything. The immigration issue of removal and incarceration of Latinos is in the same vein; creating fear and distrust to rid the country of non-whites by blaming them for the drug crisis. Bottom line: white folks want control back. Sorry, assholes! Been there, done that and we’re not going back! We’re going forward!
