About Betti Louise Lee

I have been writing all of my life. I think I wrote my first story when I was five, about a flea who was friends with a dog, both the same size, very tiny, and to them, the world was vast and exciting. It was entitled Fillmore and Rutabaga. They took care of each other. I still love that story. Imagination and companionship must have been very important to me. They still are.
I can remember composing stories during elementary school, having my first publication in sixth grade in the school newsletter. The reviews were rave in my young mind, simply because the teachers loved it. Most of the time, I wrote about the antics of myself and my sister and brothers. My family is big, boisterous, and they are all my best friends. We had a great childhood, filled with happiness and fun every single day. We loved and still love each other.
I moved on to greater subjects as the years passed – the usual essays for class, and when I was not having to complete an assignment, I wrote stories about the discovery of great treasures, white picket fence love stories, and daring trips to foreign lands for my own enjoyment. Some did not find their way to paper, merely residing from beginning to end in my mind; daydreams that never came to fruition. Whatever the format, I was writing.
Adulthood was spent working as a Technical Writer, many times interesting but equally boring, depending on the subject matter. Sometimes boring because Tech Writing is about facts, not fiction, and imagination is totally out of line in this business. I must write about hard facts, the absolutely tangible, the reality, which is sometimes not a great deal of fun. Fun has been writing one published and two unpublished novels – a western and a two books for a mystery series. I write occasional how-to articles for a few websites, as well as reports on museums in Colorado. I try to write about what I enjoy in the hope that others will also enjoy. To me, that is the writing that is important.
I have always imagined the world as I want it to be, and still try to view it through the eyes of that five year old child. Many times that is a difficult task, but I always try to write about it. I am a Colorado native, continuing to live and work here. I am a happy denizen of this big, blue planet and I pray that I will always be just that. Please read my book, and always comment. I want to know what spins the world for you.
Welcome to my world.
