I loved that the story takes place in my hometown of Denver, CO. I’m familiar with all the places described in the book. I enjoy reading thriller/suspense novels and this has all the elements of both. It was a page turner for sure! The author cleverly dangled the carrot of suspense which kept me turning the pages. It was hard to put the book down! I could totally relate to the main character on a personal level. The book is very engaging, suspenseful and with a few surprises, twists and turns. All beautifully crafted into this story. A must read! I highly recommend it.

Old Wounds is captivating. The main character, Nia, is a hardworking cutie with kind of a Stephanie Plum attitude. She’s a loving mother and quite family oriented. I enjoyed the moves she put on the guy attempting to scam the insurance company. And the way her ex husband was described you felt kind of sorry for the man. Ms. Lee has a way with words and paints a vivid picture in every chapter. This book is a great rainy day read to curl up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating from the first page to the last

With it’s vivid descriptions and fast moving story line, Old Wounds captured my attention from the very first page. The author managed to pull me into the story and allow me to try to put the pieces of the puzzle together along with the main character, Nia. I felt like Nia was a friend, recounting her story to me. I connected with her personally and enjoyed learning about her family and friends. The story has it’s twists and I found myself rooting for Nia throughout – both in her quest to solve several murders and in her personal life.
As a Denver Native, I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the city, including the streets, highways, and restaurants, as well as the beautiful mountains that frame our horizon.
Old Wounds is a very well written story with a main character that is so relatable and I highly recommend it.

I had a hard time getting into but very quickly could not put it down. It was a book club read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Way better than the last 3 books I read.
